Chandler police said Tuesday that the body, found in Phoenix near the Salt River on Nov. 17, was that of Leagans and said they were looking for who they believed was Timothy Sullivan, 61. which is linked to his disappearance.
They announced Wednesday that Sullivan had been arrested. He is considered a suspect in Leagan’s death and disappearance, the television station said.
Leagans, 49, was eagerly awaiting a fresh start in Arizona, his sister Christa Holton told KPNX. Holton said she joked with her family members that “she would be in a bathing suit at Christmas while we all huddled in our winter clothes.”
“Losing her is really difficult,” Holton said. “I will never be the same again.”
Chandler police said they found “suspicious circumstances” when they arrived at the Leagans’ home to conduct a wellness check at the request of family members, and the search for Sullivan began. Holton said Leagans had not mentioned it to other family members. The body was found with “clear signs of foul play,” police said.
Sullivan has not yet been arrested in the Maricopa County jail, according to jail records
