Jamari Williams was a teenage student who was killed on Tuesday outside a high school in south Chicago.
Simeon’s Career Academy student has been identified by the Cook County Forensic Board as Williams. He was shot to death in a shopping center less than half a mile from high school around 2:40 pm.
He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition and was later pronounced dead.

Jamari Williams was 15-years-old.
No arrests have been made. The sophomore footballer was with a group of high school students during the shooting, according to FOX 32 Chicago.
“He was not a kid with tattoos or a bad kid. He was a kid hoping to get his mother out of the hood with football, ”said Pastor Donovan Price, who spoke to the boy’s family, according to FOX 32.
According to eyewitnesses, at least a dozen shots were fired. A backpack and sandals were among the items that lay in the parking lot and sidewalk in front of the BMO Harris Bank branch after the shooting, photographs showed. Over a dozen clue markers surrounded the items.
“We heard sound and saw people running,” an unidentified employee of a nearby GameStop said, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. “The kids left school and then it happened.”
“The family wants everyone to know: it was a good child. A child who wanted to play football. Who was looking forward to playing football with Simeon, but unfortunately, due to COVID, it was postponed, ”he said.
Police said the shooting was under investigation.
